Android Eclipse: Five Reasons To Choose Android Over Apple

A rivalry has raged between operating systems (OS) since a choice became available decades ago. The rivalry has now extended to smart phones and other mobile devices like tablets. The two main competitors today are Android and Apple. Making a choice may seem difficult, but here are five reasons to choose Android over Apple.

More Apps

Android has a much larger share of the worldwide market than Apple. It is also easier for small businesses and individuals to develop programs for Android. This has resulted in a much larger selection of apps for the OS. Additionally, Android apps do not have to be approved before they can be released. Apple actively restricts what apps are available.

Customization Options

Nearly every part of the Android OS is far more customizable than any Apple device. For instance, Android devices can have the home screen customized; there are ways to switch the default apps for different tasks; Android has widgets that provide live information right on the home screen; and it is even possible to root an entirely different version of the Android operating system.

Wider Choice of Hardware

Android was designed to work with many different hardware configurations. The iOS was designed to work exclusively with hardware setups approved by Apple. Because of this difference, there is a much wider selection of devices and hardware components when using Android. The OS can easily manage devices with SIM cards, extra pluggable storage, and nearly any other type of component.

Better Multitasking

Though both Android and Apple provide multitasking abilities, Android allows for much easier, more efficient, and more robust multitasking. Swapping between active apps on an Apple device can be cumbersome. Android devices have a simple multitasking button that is always accessible. This makes it easier to switch quickly between running apps and recently closed apps.

Cost

The final reason to choose Android over Apple is cost. The truth is that Apple products cost more because there is a premium attached to the brand. The distribution structure for Android lowers the initial overhead for manufacturers. It is also possible to get Android devices that have newer and more powerful hardware features than the tightly regulated Apple products. Lower cost allows for a better value when choosing Android.

It is always important to look beyond the marketing, especially when choosing an OS for a mobile device. Although Apple has established a very recognisable and valuable brand, the products do not always meet the needs of modern consumers. The large market share Android enjoys today is because the OS is functional, customisable, and powerful.

Technology and Retirement: The Top 5 Ways Technology Helps the Elderly

With medical technology improving in leaps and bounds, the elderly are living longer with full lives even into their 90s. Technology enhances their lives in other ways by bringing loved ones closer on a daily basis. From immediate medical assistance to brain memory games, technology helps the elderly stay connected to the world.

technology_and_retirement_the_top_5_ways_technology_helps_the_elderly.JPG

Security Systems
Through Vivint home security and automation, elderly people can communicate with a security professional if they feel threatened. If your loved one hears a suspicious sound outside, they simply press the control panel to engage in two-way communication. Security professionals can send emergency or medical personnel to the site, if needed.

Doctors Play a Role
Doctor's visits can be numerous as you age, but some appointments are simply a well-being checkup. Through video chats, your doctor can contact elderly patients for basic appointments over the computer. Although physical checkups are still necessary, remote patient monitoring helps the doctor stay in touch more often for better care.

Why does that hurt ?
A tablet or smartphone offers several applications, or apps, that explain medical symptoms and procedures. If an elderly person has an ache or pain in a specific area, it is possible to get an idea about the problem's severity. A pain that seems benign may be a precursor to a more dangerous issue, including heart attacks.

Emergency Pendants
In the past, emergency bracelets had an engraved description of allergies or medical issues. With technology, these bracelets use QR, or quick response, scanning tools. A medical professional simply scans the code to pull up all of the patient's information, from current medical issues to past surgeries. Similar to having a bracelet there is also a pendant that is monitored by  Vivint security. This is pendant is pressed whenever seniors are placed in an emergency situation and will immediately send a signal to send the professionals.

The fun stuff
Elderly people that are isolated tend to have poor health. Contact with family and friends brightens their days. Social media, either through status updates or pictures, connects the elderly to everyday adventure on a computer, tablet or smartphone. Seeing a favorite granddaughter's spelling bee video to watching a funny animal video online keeps the mind refreshed and active.

Through stimulation and proper medical care, technology refines the later years with excitement and connections with others. Old high school friends and new grandchildren are just a click away in this advanced world.

Craziest Cars of the World

There are a lot of people out there who have done many kinds of crazy things with their cars, but turning their cars into one of the exotic and strangest looking vehicles are quite rare to see on the road, but they do exist and there are many infact which will blow your mind. Get ready for the list of the most craziest cars of the world.

The Duke
One of the strangest and craziest cars belongs to Rick McKinney, who lovingly calls his car the "Duke". Without an inch of empty space on this heavily modified 1976 Ford Grand which happens to be weighing over 5000 Lbs., is a museum on wheels.

What does this car have to make it look like a museum? Well it has many kinds of things attached to it, on the exterior part of the car there are many fisher toys, and other children's toys, bowling pins and such, and even TV set parts and a window from a ship that was once owned by the President Herbert, from his personal Yacht. This car reaches heights of 12 feet and even has a bedroom that's 5 foot x 8 foot x 5 foot made from tree trunks that has a removable skylight. Insides include photographs and more toys.

The Datel Communications Car
Howard Davis a friend of a telecommunications company Datel Communications, which is a telephone company based in Massachusetts has made his 1975 Volkswagen beetle's exterior fully converted into something very unusual. He turned his car into a giant phone with the numbers and everything all functional, and the car is a spectacle being over 5 foot in height and displaying bright red colors. It's a funny giant phone going down the road.

Gene Simmons Face Car
Yes it's true, a car that happens to be the face of the famous bassist Gene Simmons for the band KISS. The car is over 4 foot tall and the exterior has been fully modified to resemble the face of Gene Simmons with his tongue sticking out quite brutally. This car is one of the most craziest looking cars by far. The car can be yours for only 10000 Pounds, but keep in mind that it is still just a 1970 Volkswagen Beetle. Driving this down the road can sure turn quite a few people's heads, ironic isn't it?

David Crow's Shoe Car
Now If you're tired of wearing your old shoes and can’t find that perfect shoe to match your Red dress then you may as well go on a date with David Crow as his car is a wonderful red shoe, perfect to go with that dress.
The Red Stiletto resembles a nice shoe that you could drive while people might think they are suffering from some sort of hallucinogen, but yes David has designed this perfectly well adjusted shoe automobile by using parts from an old Honda motorbike. He spent nearly four years of his life but why? Well because he had teased his friend about her shoe collection and wanted to make up for it! Way to go David you sure did impress a lot of people as well.

Real Life Bat mobile
That’s right, it's for real and it's simply amazing. A group of rich enthusiasts who have made a real life bat mobile with most of its functionalities costed nearly 1 million pound to build and was built by a team in Florida calling themselves Galag. The group is anonymous and the car is just what it looks like, the bat mobile out of the movies of batman.

Get your dvla contact number ready so you can inquire about how you too can own these cars.

Improve Your Home with the Latest Technology

With the rate at which technology is evolving, there will always be a new gadget or device that could add to your home living experience. These gadgets will not only allow you to do more while you are at home, but they will ensure that everything runs in a more efficient manner. These improvements can range from faster internet connections to more high definition channels on your television. Here is a look at five technology items that will make a huge impact on the way you live.

Home Phone
With home phone technologies having improved so much over the past few years, it is important to ensure that your service is as up to date as possible. The clarity and quality of your home phone connection will be a lot better with a new service, and you are likely to have more free minutes for both local and long distance calls. There are various home phone packages you can read about at http://www.bell.ca/Home Phone.

Internet
Consulting an internet service provider for your high speed internet connection is a great idea. Internet technology has advanced a great deal over the past few years, with high speed and fiber optic connections available to many homes across the country. The increased speed is great for people who want to play games online, watch HD movies or video clips, and download large files.

All in One Remotes
All in one remotes are amazing as they allow you to control almost every electronic device in your house with the push of a button. Logitech's Harmony all for one remote can handle up to 15 different devices, such as the TV, DVD player, lights, air/heat, and much more. The devices are easy to install and manage on your own, but it is possible to get detailed assistance from a technology specialist when you purchase the product.

Security Cameras
Most home security systems now come with security cameras, in addition to alarms and sensors. Adding a camera is not only a great way to see why your alarm has been triggered, but it is a way of monitoring the house throughout the day. Most security systems allow for camera set up with video feeds being delivered to a user's laptop or smartphone. Parents can keep an eye on their children, or you can keep an eye on your house when you are away for business.

Home Robots
There are a fleet of tiny home robots available that can do anything from vacuuming to cleaning your gutters. These items may require a bit of set up and maintenance, but they work silently and with minimal fuss. Imagine sitting down and reading the newspaper while a vacuum robot cleans the carpet and hardwood floors within minutes.

Each of these devices will enable you to have a technologically advanced house, ensuring that your standard of living improves.

Max Virus Found In Free Top 10 Android Apps

Everyone is aware of potential virus threats on the home PC or laptop. Utilizing an anti-virus program is standard practice. Unfortunately the same virus risks are present on Android cell phones and most users are totally unaware. Recently over fifty android apps have been identified with a new virus threat including the top 10 Android apps. These are estimated to have already affected over 200,000 users. As of May 2013 a reported 900 million Android phones have been activated and 48 billion apps downloaded from the google play store.

New Information
Recently researchers from a mobile security company announced they had identified a threat that could potentially affect every Android phone released in the past four years. The company went on to say that the virus threat had the potential to turn every Android device into a "zombie botnet."

How it Works
The hackers took 21 popular free apps and injected specific code. The apps were then republished. Within four days upwards hundreds of thousands of the altered apps were downloaded or upgraded installing the infected app onto the device. Even technologic savvy users could not identify the altered programs. Once installed the altered code was able to "root" the operating systems computer. It was able to access the devices IMEI (International Mobile Equipment Identity) and IMSI (International Mobile Subscriber Identity). This proved a wealth of information sent to servers located remotely including the uses name, product ID, country and language and user ID. Perhaps more disturbing is that once in place, the easy ability to insert additional code allows a variety of other

What Apps are Implicated?
Potentially susceptible apps are free. Android smartphone apps are free to license and market without checks and balances. Contrastingly Apple iPhone App store requires extensive testing of apps before being listed.

Pirated applications by three developers have been identified so far. The altered apps came from "Myournet," "Kingmall2010,″ and "we20090202.″ The apps targeted were identified from around the world but included many of the top 10 apps in America, Europe and Asia.

Why are Apps Hacked?
The motivation behind hacking computer software is varied. Most of the time it may be an exercise in mental ability; simply to "see if it can be done," to show that "I can do it." In the case of the recent findings if may be a case of personal identification theft as much of the initial pirated code was involved in information gathering.

One application inserted an Android Trojan that simply locked up the device requiring a hard reboot, eliminating all stored date to recover. One can only imagine the purpose in introducing that process.
Another recent scam has been found involving fraudulent anti-virus software designed to extort money from those that would download the app. This may be the first application of "ransomware." As this becomes more common it would seem prudent to rely on proven and trusted industry names to provide essential functions. Documenting app developers is a good idea, calling the Norton contact number before downloading any anti-virus app to obtain valuable industry information.

The Solution
To Googles credit, they identified over 50 apps on their website contaminating virus and suspended them immediately. Public awareness in the Android community must be heightened. Security companies will now step up marketing to encourage anti-virus protection in this vulnerable market. A first step for any Android owner would be to call the Norton contact number for example and explore protection options.

Telescopes have come a long way from the simple devices that most science geeks remember from their childhood. You can know get telescopes that will give you an excellent view of objects not only in our solar system, but also in galaxies far, far away.

A Globe That Floats
This is one of the neatest things that science geeks can get. The MOVA Globe is the perfect gift for a science geek who has a desk in an office. They will love to kill time at work by watching this floating globe rotate in front of their eyes, defying gravity and marveling coworkers. The floating globe rests on a transparent liquid that is virtually invisible to the naked eye.

The device uses solar cells and magnets to power the rotation of the globe. Because it uses solar-powered cells, the MOVA globe will never need to be plugged into an outlet or have its batteries replaced. Its rotation is directed by a magnetic core, which mimics the magnetic core of the actual Earth. This makes is a fun device that science geeks will love.

Watch developed based on Ferrari: HUBOLT MP-05 "LaFerrari"

MP-05 LaFerrari Watch was released by Hublot right after unveiling "LaFerrai" at the Geneva Motor Show. This watch represents a very special series, entirely designed and developed by the Hublot Manufacture engineers and watchmakers in tribute to "LaFerrari".

Both watch and car are developed in parallel alongside the Ferrari teams. They share a number of common points. Albe to boast no fewer than 637 components for the movement, which is also equipped with a Tourbillion, as well as a power reserve of approximately 50 days thanks to its  11 barrels, arranged in a line just like a spinal column and interconnected so that they do not each discharge in turn but support each other, this watch is closer to being a concept watch.

Its looks amazing on your writs but bad news is its a limited edition timepiece. Its priced at 3,00,000 Swiss Francs ( $322000).

The watch is finely wrought in terms of shape, featuring a complex shaped sapphire crystal clearly reminiscent of the car’s outline, as well as an open case-back, and is made from black PVD titanium. It is topped by a titanium and carbon insert in its center, revealing the winding crown. The time-setting crown is positioned under the case.

Both are completely integrated into the design, and therefore practically invisible. The movement has an original display, featuring first off on the front vertical face the small seconds indicated by means of an aluminum cylinder fastened onto the suspended Tourbillon cage (significantly bigger than usual with a cage diameter of 14.50 mm, for even better appreciation of the mechanical parts)

The hour and minute are displayed to the right of the barrels, also indicated by means of one anodized black aluminum cylinder each. On their left is the cylinder indicating the power reserve. Reinforcing bars either side, made from anodized red aluminum, bring to mind Ferrari’s red signature. The desire for a truly exceptional watch has been extended to the design of the presentation case, made from Schedoni leather and carbon fiber, containing the specific tools for winding the watch, and whose design was also inspired by the world of motoring. Limited edition of 50 numbered pieces.

Car weighing only 99 Pounds. Ultra Efficient Super Light car

As economy is getting more worse and worse, people are paying more and more for fuel. People are much concerned about the amount they are spending for fuel. Have you ever dreamt of a car which gives 1000 miles per gallon. I am sure it looks unbelievable.Along with its amazing mileage this car has its own pros and cons.

Its true. A Ultra-Efficient Super-Light car tops 1300 miles per gallon. This car was built to win SAE Supermileage competition 2013. People call this as BYU Supermileage vehicle. Though car looks bit odd, it waits just 99 pounds which can accommodate only one person who needs to lydown for drive it.
mrtechpathi_car_weighing_only_99_pounds_ultra_efficent_super_light_car

Can anyone guess the top speed of this light weighted car ? Its top speed is 25 MPH. SAE supermileage competition 2013 doesn't bother about top speed, the main key is the mileage. That's the reason this car has won the competition 2013.

mrtechpathi_car_weighing_only_99_pounds_ultra_efficent_super_light_car
Earlier in 2012, BYU's entry reached 1135 MPG, but this hear they have focused on making a lighter and more aerodynamic car. They have reduce 22 pounds of their 2012 model by redesigning each and every part of their vehicle.

Coming to the competition, every car is given 20 grams of fuel and is then driven around 10 mile track. The fuel remained is measured after the course to determine the fuel usage. Based on remaining fuel, they calculate MPG and declare the winner.

Using these type of cards in real world may be diffuclt because of its light weight, low top speed and seating posture. But its fish like aerodynamic design looks great.

Why Windows 8 Boosts the Future of Cloud Computing

Windows 8 is the first operating system to fully-embrace cloud computing. In fact, every license holder gets SkyDrive, the Microsoft cloud storage system, along with the operating system. This means that users are no longer tied to one computer. You can access your cloud documents, images and even all of your settings from other computer terminals or devices. To date, Microsoft has sold more than 100 million Windows 8 licenses since its release in October, 2012, according to the "Seattle Times."

What's new about Windows 8 security?
Windows 8 offers some new security features that previous versions of the operating system didn't have, making it safer by far than Windows 7, according to an article by CNET, and more cloud-friendly. Included in the latest version of Windows are:
·         Windows Defender. With the introduction of Windows 8, there's basically no such thing as an unprotected Windows. This suite of tools runs in the background and alerts you to any suspicious and malicious activity. You can also use it to scan for Malware and correct any found issues. According to CNET, Windows Defender catches about 80 percent of attacks.

·         Phishing Filter. Also new with Windows 8 is a filter designed to isolate phishing scam emails. Windows Smart Screen also works hand-in-hand with Windows Defender to identify new malware and warn against unprotected apps.

·         New password and document protection. With cloud computing as an integral part of Windows 8, encouraging remote access, the system needs a way to beef up password and shared file security. Bit Locker, a new Windows 8 feature, is designed to address these issues. With Bit Locker, each document that you save on your computer is encrypted and thus can't be high-jacked during the cloud storage process.

Windows 8 and cloud computing
With the launch of Windows 8, not longer are users tied to just one computing device. In addition to SkyDrive, Windows 8 emphasizes cloud apps rather than programs that have to be downloaded, stored on the hard drive and can only be accessed by one computer. Windows 8 and its corresponding SkyDrive will also help users manage their computers files with less storage. Gone (or going) are the days when you needed more and more gigabytes of storage to be able to keep up with the latest games and apps. With Windows 8, all of those storage needs are handled by the cloud, paving the way for sleeker and more streamlined computers.
According to Tech Blog, Windows 8 is the first O/S to use cloud computing as it should be used. That combined with its touch screen capabilities and new security features, make it a package aligned with the future.

THE IPAD FOR BUSINESS OWNERS

There is nothing interesting or desirable about paperwork. Yet every day,  we are shuffling through papers and documenting every professional move we make. Chaotic and confusing, paperwork can dominate the life of a business owner. It is not until recently that moves have been made to avoid dealing with piles of papers and documents.

The iPad has been revolutionary in shifting the challenging burden of paperwork in an easy and efficient chore. For business owners in every kind of profession ranging - from trade to factory owners, the iPad has managed to relieve a lot of stress associated with paperwork, providing extra hours each day for more productive activities.

FIVE REASONS WHY AN IPAD WILL BENEFIT YOUR BUSINESS

1.    AFFORDABILITY
The standard price for an iPad is under $500.

2.    PORTABILITY AND USABILITY
An iPad weighs 1.5 pounds and has 10 hours battery life. It can be used both at home and for your business.

3.    CUSTOMER FILING
If a carpenter had a client, he would generally fill out a paper card which will go back to the office and get filed away. If that customer rings up a few months down the track claiming there is a problem with the job, he would have to go back to the office and find the job. Now, each customer and order can get stored in the iPad in individual folders ensuring organization and ease.

4.    SAVING TIME
For a business owner doing physical labor every day, paperwork is the last thing he wants to do. Before the iPad, owners are in the office every night doing paperwork and heading back to the office two to three times a day to access work orders, emails, faxes and documents. With the iPad, owners have the luxury of transporting their office wherever they go.

5.    WORK INSTRUCTIONS
Tradies can look up the layouts and plans of the projects they work on as well as looking up the specifications and communicating with contractors. If there are changes made to a bathroom layout or a wiring layout, you can access them straight away. It provides a substantially less stressful work environment.

SOME APPS DESIGNED TO ASSIST BUSINESS OWNERS

5 iPhone Apps to Help You Write a Great Speech

Public speaking has always been a feat: standing in front of a crowd and being forced to recite words which have lost all of their meaning after your hours of preparation. Sweaty palms. A nervous twitch. Dry mouth. The words disappear, and you’re left there, standing, with nothing to say.
If you can relate to that scenario at all, you’ll understand why it’s such a relief that in today’s day and age we have iPhone apps which can help us to overcome these basic issues of public speaking to give us a wonderful speech. The apps won’t write the speech for you; they’ll help you to deliver a great performance that won’t leave you in tears of embarrassment afterwards. These 5 great iPhone apps should be everything you need to confidently deliver your speech in front of hundreds of people!

Evernote

The thing that makes Evernote a great app is that you can sync your data from any of your devices. So whenever you think of something great for your speech, just grab your mobile phone, tablet, PC or laptop and add it to the Evernote database. You can organise your notes in any way that will help you the most, and you can search your previous ideas to keep track of those long projects that you have been planning for.

Quote Book
Every great speech starts off with a quote. Whether you want to quote Albert Einstein’s famous quote about insanity or a more obscure quote from a little known politician, the Quote Book app has everything you need to engage your audience with a quote that will make them think.

There are more than 3,000 quotes in its in-built database, from over 400 different people. You can even add your own quotes to your personal library of quotes, so if you think that you’ve thought of something very poignant you might want to add that in! There is an additional feature which offers instant information about the author of the quote from their Wikipedia page, so you won’t be left red-faced if you have little knowledge of the person!

Remote Desktop

One problem with writing a good speech is that ideas will come to you anywhere: in the bath, in the car or while in bed. With the Remote Desktop app, you can use your iPhone to access your desktop remotely, allowing you to gain access to the notes that you have made for your speech on your computer from your phone.

If you are stuck on a train without your main PC, this is especially helpful; never again will you need to use a pen and paper to jot down ideas which are inevitable lost.

Speech Timer

The Speech Timer app is especially useful if you are doing a presentation for school or university, where you need to speak for a set amount of time. This works both ways: sometimes people find themselves rambling off topic, and other people find themselves unable to occupy the time which they need to fill resulting in minutes of tedious silence.
The app will also enable you to set different colours and sounds to appear on your phone at set timed intervals, so, for example, you need to speak on five different topics you can set the timer to show you when to switch. With some practise this app will help you to deliver a wonderfully fluent speech with no awkward pauses or silences.

Quick Voice Recorder
This app’s uses transcend just preparing for a speech. Not only does the app allow you to record your voice for extended periods of time (something which is hard to come by with a lot of apps of a similar nature), there is a voice to text feature which enables you to send emails of whatever you have recorded.

Therefore not only can you jot down your ideas verbally and record your speech and play it back to yourself, you can also record entire meetings or lectures for future reference. In this day and age, written minutes of meetings are no longer necessary; this app can send copies of a verbal record which has been transcribed to text instantly.
